Brow elevators are currently one of the most sought-after beauty treatments, and for good reason. This treatment helps clients achieve their dream eyebrows by sculpting wild hairs into a sleek, even shape, which lasts for weeks, or even months! However, the topic of waxing before or after browlamination leads to many different opinions, which is probably why it is difficult to make a definitive choice.

While it is tempting to apply a waxing treatment for that ultimate, polished look, it is important to proceed with caution. Elleebana is all about educating and supporting beauty professionals so they can give their clients the best eyebrows possible.

Here’s why we advise against waxing before treatment and why caution should be taken with waxing after browlift, including some alternatives to keep your clients’ brows looking top notch.

Why not wax before a browlift?

Brow elevators use chemical lotions to tame and reshape unruly eyebrow hairs. Waxing beforehand can make the skin sensitive, making it more prone to irritation. We always recommend that no waxing be performed prior to the browlift to ensure the safety and comfort of your clients.

And waxing after the browlift?

Waxing after a browlift can be done, but it’s important to be careful. At Elleebana, we use our Thio-free lotions, Elleeplex Profusion, specially developed for browlift. This gentle formula is less aggressive to brow hairs and reduces the risk of damage. Nevertheless, it is important to note that even mild chemical solutions can affect the skin through chemical reactions that alter the pH levels of the skin. To avoid irritation and discomfort, make sure products are applied only to the eyebrow hairs and not outside them. Waxing on already sensitive skin can lead to further irritation, so it is crucial to treat the area with care and protect the skin.

What is the alternative to waxing?

If you prefer not to wax during the same appointment as a browlift, we recommend tweezing excess hair after the elevator. These methods are gentler on sensitive skin and less likely to cause irritation or damage. To protect the skin and prevent chemicals from accidentally getting outside the brow, use a barrier product, such as Ellee-Shield, on the skin you plan to wax after the treatment. Remember to always perform a full consultation beforehand. If a client has used products that contain strong acids or retinol on the eyebrow area, avoid waxing completely.

By following these guidelines, you will ensure that the eyebrows look perfect without the risk of irritation or damage.
