Perhaps you've already heard about it over the past year and thought, "I'll stick with my trusty adhesive. Comfort is key, right?" It's time to let go of that thought when it comes to Glue Balm! You really don't want to miss out on this innovation, and in this blog, I'll explain exactly why.
Glue Balms were THE lash lift innovation of 2024 and are still immensely popular in 2025. A Glue Balm is your new must-have for lash lifting – if it isn't already! It's a completely different product than you're used to, and that's precisely what makes it so special.
A Glue Balm can best be described as "glue without glue." Why? Unlike traditional adhesives, a Glue Balm does not harden, dry out, or fix the lashes in the same way. Think of it like petroleum jelly: it's sticky, but it doesn't harden.
Why is Glue Balm so special?
The fact that Glue Balm doesn't harden is one of its biggest advantages. This allows you to perfectly position the lashes between step 1 and step 2 of the lash lift treatment.
You might think, "If they're already stuck, why would I adjust them?"
Correctly separating the lashes is one of the most important steps for a perfect lash lift. If lashes are crooked or incorrectly placed on the shield, it can lead to an uneven or undesirable end result.
For many stylists, this is a time-consuming process. Lashes are often difficult to fix, come loose, or aren't positioned correctly when working with traditional adhesive. This is due to the natural sulfur bonds in the lashes, which cause them to constantly want to return to their original shape – until these bonds are broken.
Once these bonds are broken, the lashes become flexible, and you can easily mold them into the desired shape. Think of brow lamination: no adhesive is used here either, and you see how soft and pliable the hairs become.
Working with Glue Balm
With Glue Balm, you work not only faster but also more efficiently. You can perfectly correct the lashes after step 1, because they remain soft and the balm does not harden.
This has two major advantages:
-
The sulfur bonds are already broken, making positioning easier
-
The lashes are perfectly positioned before you apply Lotion 2, which fixes the shape
Extra care during the treatment
Glue Balm also acts as an extra nourishing step. For example, Elleebalm contains plant-based amino acids that nourish the lashes during treatment and even make a vegan lash lift possible.
Because the balm doesn't harden, you can work gently and quickly without pulling at the hairs. This ensures a comfortable treatment and a more beautiful result.
What if lashes come loose?
It can happen that lashes come loose a little faster than with traditional adhesive – no problem! You can easily reposition them after step 1.
For extra fixation, you can use Elleebana Lift Lockers, which hold the lashes in place during every step of the treatment.
Are you dealing with extremely stubborn lashes? Then you can use a small amount of traditional adhesive on the tips for extra grip.
Pro tip: the sandwich technique
Use Glue Balm with the sandwich technique:
-
Apply a layer of Glue Balm to the shield
-
Place the lashes on the shield
-
Apply a thin layer of Glue Balm over the lashes
Please note: processing time may be slightly longer
Due to the nourishing ingredients of Glue Balm, you may need to extend the processing time slightly. Think of the lashes as a sponge: they first absorb the nourishing ingredients, which causes other products to work a little slower.
How much longer? That varies per lash type. Are the lashes healthy, damaged, or normal? Determine the processing time as you normally would and always perform a Lash Check. Not ready yet? Extend by 1 minute and check again.
