A term you've probably seen or heard often lately. But what does it actually mean? I'll explain it to you in this blog! Lash Checking is, as the name suggests, checking the eyelashes.

Are you thinking… “Isn't that something I've been doing since my training?” Not quite. We can only assess the exterior of the lashes to a certain extent. For example, we can estimate whether lashes are porous or strong, or if they are thin or thick.

Based on this, we estimate the required processing times. However, because we cannot look inside the hair structure, it remains difficult to determine the actual condition and shape of the hair shaft. The entire lifting process takes place inside the eyelash, in the cortex.

While a good external analysis is important for determining the correct processing time, it is equally important to check during the treatment whether the lashes are actually 'ready'.

We call this check the Lash Check. By performing this check, you can see if Lotion 1 has already done its job. This helps prevent overprocessing and damage to the lashes, but also to avoid an insufficient lift – where the result is disappointing because the lashes were not yet 'ready'.

No more guesswork with processing times, but knowing for sure if you are on the right track.

A stiff lash that is not yet fully 'ready' will be harder to bend and will show a 'U'-shaped curl at the point where you try to bend it. A flexible lash that IS 'ready', on the other hand, bends easily and will lie almost flat at the point where you bend it.

If the lash is flexible, Lotion 1 has processed long enough and you can remove it. The processing time for step 2 is then adjusted based on the actual processing time of step 1. Here too, you can check if the lashes are ready.

For step 2, we call this the Set Check. You perform this in the same way as with Lotion 1, about half a minute before the end of the processing time. You release an eyelash at the tip again, but instead of bending it, you gently press it down and then release it.

Does the lash spring back into the position it was placed on the shield? Then it is ready and you can remove the lotion!

Lotion 2 does not cause overprocessing or damage, but it can dry out the lashes. So there's no need to leave it on longer than necessary.

With the Lash Check & Set Check, you no longer have to guess or hope for the correct processing times. You know for sure that every client leaves with a beautiful, long-lasting, and healthy lash lift.

Time to check!
